Our nation is navigating an era of heightened political polarization, which has intensified discussions around diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The coaching profession is not exempt from these societal dynamics. At Apoyo Coaching and Consulting, we recognize that you may have clients that are underestimated professionals or individuals from majority groups seeking your guidance as they grapple with these divisive times.
Your clients may face challenges such as navigating predominantly White organizations while staying true to their identities, coping with microaggressions or stereotype threats, or even addressing tensions sparked by organizational statements on social issues like racial justice.
As a coach, you play a pivotal role in helping them find clarity, resilience, and strategies for authentic engagement in such complex situations.

Learning objectives:
● Participants will learn the Intercultural Development Continuum model and how it
applies to coaching.
● Participants will learn what having a posture of cultural humility is and how to develop
it.
● Participants will know what cultural competence is and how to begin to move toward
cultural humility.
● Participants will learn how their own personal and social identities can impact their
coaching practice and how to use the Identity Wheel as a coaching tool.
Additionally, participants will receive a workbook for the course and copy of the book Dear White Leader: How to Achieve Organizational Excellence through Cultural Humility.

Program description:
This interactive workshop is designed to empower coaches with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of coaching cross-culturally. Participants will explore what cross-cultural coaching is and how it can create transformative benefits for both clients and coaches. They will gain a deeper understanding of microaggressions and stereotype threat, learning strategies to guide clients in overcoming these challenges and achieving their goals. The workshop will also examine how personal and social identities influence coaching practices,
introducing the Identity Wheel as a powerful tool to foster deeper connections with clients.
Additionally, participants will delve into the concept of implicit bias, its impact on coaching interactions, and how tools like the Implicit Association Test can be used to mitigate bias and improve outcomes. By the end of this workshop, participants will feel confident in their ability to serve diverse clients authentically and effectively.

● Participants will learn the definitions of microaggressions and stereotype threat and how
to coach clients through them to achieve their goals.
● Participants will learn how their own personal and social identities can impact their
coaching practice and how to use the Identity Wheel as a coaching tool.
● Participants will be introduced to implicit bias and the impact it can have on them and
their coaching clients and how to use the Implicit Association Test as a coaching tool.
Additionally, participants will receive a workbook for the course and copy of the book Dear White Leader: How to Achieve Organizational Excellence through Cultural Humility.
